When we founded Singjoy in 2018, we had a clear vision: to create the confinement experience we wished had existed for every mother in Singapore — one that combines the warmth of traditional care with the standards of modern hospitality.
The name "Singjoy" reflects this vision. "Sing" represents Singapore — our home, our community, and the multicultural tapestry of motherhood traditions that make this city so special. "Joy" captures the emotion at the heart of everything we do — the joy of welcoming a new life, the joy of a mother's recovery, and the joy that comes from knowing you're in good hands.
What Inspired Us
Our founders experienced the confinement journey firsthand — both as parents and as caregivers. They saw how fragmented the experience could be: mothers juggling different providers for meals, nanny care, lactation support, and postnatal services, often while exhausted and recovering from major surgery.
They also noticed a gap in the market. On one end, there were traditional confinement ladies with varying levels of training. On the other, there were clinical confinement centres with nursery rooms that felt impersonal. Very few options offered truly personalised, integrated care in a premium environment.
Singjoy was born to fill that gap.
Our Core Beliefs
From day one, we built Singjoy around a set of non-negotiable beliefs:
- Every baby deserves undivided attention — which is why we chose the 1-on-1 dedicated nanny model from the start, before it became a trend in the industry.
- Recovery food should be delicious — our TCM-based meals are prepared fresh daily with premium ingredients, because nourishing food and enjoyable food should be the same thing.
- Mothers deserve luxury during recovery — which is why we partnered with Singapore's finest hotels rather than building standalone facilities.
- Support should be comprehensive — from lactation to paediatrics to emotional wellness, every aspect of postpartum care should be coordinated seamlessly.
Growing with Our Community
Since 2018, we've had the privilege of supporting thousands of families through one of life's most transformative moments. Each mother's story has taught us something new, and each piece of feedback has helped us improve.
We've expanded from our first hotel location to eight prestigious addresses across Singapore. We've deepened our nanny training programme, refined our meal recipes, and broadened our support services. But our core promise has never changed: warm, joyful, personalised care for every mother and baby who walks through our doors.
Looking Ahead
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to the values that started this journey. We're investing in our Training Center to develop the next generation of confinement care professionals. We're expanding our Nanny to Your Home programme for families who prefer recovering in their own space. And we're constantly exploring new ways to make the confinement experience more supportive, more nourishing, and more joyful.
