  • Safe ways to hold, carry, and support a newborn's head and neck
  • Bathing a newborn safely — step-by-step with temperature awareness
  • Diapering, rash prevention, and umbilical cord stump care
  • Swaddling techniques for comfort and better sleep
  • Dressing and undressing a newborn gently and efficiently

Feeding Support & Nutrition

  • Understanding hunger and satiation cues in newborns
  • Bottle feeding: correct positioning, pacing, and sterilisation
  • Assisting with breastfeeding — how to support (not replace) the mother
  • Preparing and storing formula and expressed breast milk safely
  • Recognising feeding difficulties and when to seek professional help

Newborn Safety & Sleep

  • Creating a safe sleep environment — back to sleep, firm mattress, no loose items
  • Soothing techniques for a crying baby — the 5 S's and beyond
  • Infant-proofing the home and safe product use
  • Recognising signs of illness: fever, jaundice, breathing irregularities
  • Basic infant first aid and what to do in an emergency

Supporting the Mother's Recovery

  • Understanding the physical and emotional changes after childbirth
  • How caregivers can ease the mother's daily workload effectively
